A Footprints of London guided walk in aid of Amnesty International: Chelsea - from Angry Young Men to Utopia, led by Stephen Benton.
Find out more about London with Footprints' enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides.
Chelsea may seem a bit conservative these days but it was not always so, as we will learn in this walk.
We will hear that it was a theatre in Chelsea that was at the forefront of challenging censorship in the 1960s and a Chelsea department store that led the way for an employee-owned business in the late 1920s.
Chelsea was home to Oscar Wilde and it was here that he had a fateful encounter with the Marquess of Queensberry which ultimately led to his downfall.
And it was also home to an artist and writer who kept wombats and had his dead wife's body dug up so he could recover a book of poetry.
This walk starts outside Sloane Square Underground Station, and ends at the Cadogan Arms in the Kings Road.
All the ticket money for this walk goes to Amnesty International.
