This course combines complex theory with practical examples, hands on exercises, location shooting and impromptu tasks and demonstrations.

Photography Course for Advanced Course topics:

- Light: the effect of light in a photograph explained in depth and how light affects your exposures and your photographs; understanding the colour and behaviour of light (natural & artificial, direction, shape, form and quality.)
- DSLR Camera Advanced Settings and Commands – we will take you in to the most advanced camera settings, including the custom settings.
- Lenses: advanced classification – fine adjustment of focal lengths, lens selection by type of subject and environment, lens accessories.
- Advanced Focusing techniques – the fine adjustment of the focussing system, how to take sharp images of subjects on the move, sport, wildlife; hyperfocal distance explained in depth.
- Light Meter: metering modes explained in depth; metering modes use by type of subject and environment.
- White Balance: white balance and colour temperature - how to adjust your white balance to achieve correctly colour balanced images and to avoid colour cast.
- Exposure: exposure explained in depth including exposure compensation, exposure bracketing, all advanced exposure techniques; - - the magic triangle explained in depth and the correlation between the 3 elements of exposure: ISO, shutter speed and aperture; exposure in relation to extreme lighting situations.
- Histograms, how to use histograms to read and achieve a more effective exposure, use of histograms indoors and outdoors using natural and artificial light.
- Flash (The speedlite / flashgun): settings, capacity, power, features, exposure modes. How to achieve greater exposures using your flashgun.
- Filters: understanding the types and uses of filters in different situations for different types of photography.
- Long Exposures: we will teach you how to achieve very long exposures (minutes or hours) using advanced settings and tools; the benefits of the long exposures and composition and calculation of the length of the exposures.
