Would you like to explore urban space through drawing?
Come to a new drawing workshop on the deck of a Minesweeper boat - led by artist Alexandra Blum
Drawing from the deck of this fascinating moored Minesweeper, we will use the dynamic relationship between the boat, neighbouring remnants of older buildings, rapidly expanding new constructions and surrounding creek as the starting point of our drawings.
Focussing on movement through time and space, we will abandon static single moments drawn from a fixed perspective, and explore compressed space, peripheral vision, actual and implied movement and layering of space and time within an image. Suitable for all levels of experience.
Alexandra Blum has over 15 years’ experience of drawing urban space. Recent projects include spending 3 years charting the transformation of Dalston, east London. Drawings from this project were exhibited at the Geffrye Museum, London Transport Museum and Hackney Museum and awarded the David Gluck Memorial Bursary for Drawing
