The Lesson explores the bizarre relationship between the hot-headed teacher and his seemingly brilliant yet infuriating pupil, whom he coaches to her final exams with disastrous results…

Directed by Gary Sefton, director of Butterfly’s 2014 hit of A Christmas Carol and star of their production of Chekov’s The Bear, Butterfly are delighted to welcome Sefton back to collaborate on this brilliant piece of theatre.

The Lesson is a 45 minute performance; a rarely performed, very funny one-act, dark comedy from French absurdist writer Eugene Ionesco, translated to English by Donald Watson.

Bring your sandwiches with you as this is a perfect way to escape from the office and reclaim your lunch hour!

‘I would highly recommend going to Butterfly lunchtime theatre…exuberant and entertaining.’ Rhianna Lawson, What’s On Stage

The Lesson is presented by special arrangement by Samuel French Ltd.
