This is a line up that knows how to create musical mayhem on stage and deliver a show designed to entertain.

Pee Wee Ellis - as Sax player, arranger and bandleader for James Brown - was at the genesis of modern popular black music. Along with the JBs and James Brown, Pee Wee created Funk – the foundation stone that is a central and universal element in most popular modern music genres today.

Patches Stewart - is part of the next generation who took the original Funk, Jazz and Soul prototype and with his Trumpet exploded it into a thousand fresh fragments, Jazz Funk, Jazz Rock, Soul Funk and so many more. Through his work with Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, Marcus Miller and many others, Patches has left a serious fingerprint on modern music history.

Xantone Blacq - completes the loop. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, his roots are from Africa, which is where all black music begins. As part of the generation after Patches, his Vocals, Keyboards and Percussion playing are a fusion of the new and the old, the Funk and Africa. No stranger to the big stage, he was Amy Winehouse's keyboard player and toured worldwide with her.

If you've enjoyed the music of Amy Winehouse, Quincy Jones, James Brown, Van Morrison, George Duke, Marcus Miller, The JBs, these are the men who helped build that music.

Line up: Pee Wee Ellis (sax), Patches Stewart (trumpet), Xantone Blacq (keys, percussion, vocals), Alex Bonfanti (bass) and Nathan Allen (drums).

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival 2015.
