Richard Overy, one of Britain’s leading military historians, will be giving a talk on his latest book, A History of War in 100 Battles, at The National Archives on Wednesday 14th October 2015.

‘Battle is not a game to plug into a computer but a piece of living history: messy, bloody and real.’

A History of War in 100 Battles distils the history of warfare into one hundred momentous encounters, and explores how these epic moments have shaped our world.

Richard Overy is Professor of History at the University of Exeter, as well as Fellow of the British Academy and Member of the European Academy for Science and Arts. His previous works include The Bombing War, acclaimed as the ultimate history of the Blitz and bombing during the Second World War.

This talk is part of the 2015 Writer of the month series of talks at The National Archives sponsored by History Today.
