LMA is pleased to announce the finale event for this year’s artistic residency. The residency has encouraged creative engagement with the LMA archive collections and materials relating to the history of London. the project will wrap up with a day of workshops and an evening of poetry, comedy, performances, readings and the sharing of new work created during Streetlife London.
Celebrating the vibrant history of street life in London, this ambitious project has encouraged artists, researchers and members of the public to engage creatively with the unique collections of the LMA. The project aimed at bringing new audiences to the LMA to demonstrate how the collections can become a source of inspiration, both in creating new artistic works and illuminating and engaging with London’s rich history of street life. Throughout the residency Nick Field collaborated with London Metropolitan Archives to develop new art works inspired by the archive collections. The finale event for the residency will involve workshops and performances which will inspire other writers, artists, researchers and school groups to use the collections creatively and explore the history of London in interactive, expressive and artistic ways. The aims of the finale event are to encourage both regular and new users of the archives to experience the collections as well as have the opportunity to celebrate London’s vibrant street life through artistic expression.
