Teenage Cancer Trust have announced the launch of Listen Learn: Music, a creative industry event hosted by stars from the music world, including Elyar Fox and Nicola Roberts and a number of industry experts. The session is designed to help young people gain a valuable insight into the inner workings of the music industry.

Listen Learn: Music, curated by the charity in association with KID Talks, will take place on Wednesday 18th November at the Gibson Showroom.

Inspired by the young people who often to have put their lives on hold when faced with a diagnosis of cancer, friends of the charity across the music industry will come together in Central London to host the event. They will provide both expert knowledge and guidance to young people looking to forge a career in the music industry. Listen Learn: Music is open to young people from all backgrounds, including but not limited to those recovering from cancer.

Listen Learn: Music will be hosted by pop singer Elyar Fox and will begin with an informative Q&A with singer-songwriter Nicola Roberts, legendary music executive Alan McGee, music manager Charli Scott, Kilimanjaro promoter Steve Tilley and music PR Emma Van Duyts. This will be followed by creative workshops led by the speakers where young people will have a chance to be hands on by taking part in various activities, ranging from songwriting to preparing promotional materials for the launch of a new band.

Siobhan Dunn, Chief Executive at Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “At Teenage Cancer Trust we feel very lucky to have the support of our friends and ambassadors in the music and entertainment industries, who all play their part in helping us provide vital support to young people with cancer. Music is very important to many young people with cancer. It can help them through the hard times while also providing a sense of normality during their treatment.

“By bringing some of our friends from the industry together for this special event we hope to provide expert advice to young people who are interested in breaking into the music business. Listen Learn: Music is the perfect place to learn about the industry with plenty of exclusive insights and tips on how to get your foot in the door. We are delighted to be able to offer such a unique opportunity to young people and, at the same time, raise funds needed to help us reach more young people with cancer in need of our support.”

Listen Learn: Music will take place at the Gibson Showroom on Wednesday 18th November from 5 - 8pm. Tickets are priced at £12.50 and available now from tickets.songkick.com/events/25167599.
