Within the Waves

English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) Associate Artist, Adriano Adewale presents his new large scale work Within the Waves which draws on the sea-faring traditions from England and his native Brazil. It is a work for massed voices and featured singers, including Communards singer Sarah Jane Morris.

The repertoire will include bespoke arrangements of traditional English sea song (Rio Grande, The Jovial Broom Man, Outward & Homeward Bound ), Brazilian sea songs (Canto de Yemanja, Suite do Pescador - Minha Jangada vai sair pro mar) as well as a new work called Storm by Adriano Adewale himself written in collaboration with Sally Davies, leader of Cecil Sharp House Choir.

Within the Waves will be presented as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival in a first-time partnership between Serious and EFDSS and will feature Cecil Sharp House Choir and Werca’s Folk from Northumberland.

There are two identical performances of Within the Waves, at 7pm and 9pm. Tickets are for admission to one performance only.
