Goosebumps is here to haunt you again...

The gruesome imagination of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps is yours to explore, adventurer.

But be warned. This immersive theatre experience, in the abandoned underground world of Waterloo, might bring back nightmarish childhood memories you wish you had forgotten.

With the acclaimed designer of Alice's Adventures Underground and a haunting score from The Tiger Lillies, R.L Stine's creations will seem almost... alive. Though, surely they can't be, can they?

All In London Review

The only way past the monsters...is to get past them

Review Image
Once you enter the dark, winding tunnels beneath Waterloo station, with the sound of the trains rumbling above, you'll come face to face with terrifying monsters and killer scarecrows. The only way to get past them is by walking through 19 rooms of horror-filled stories.

One is a tent where a young girl explains how her pet died in mysterious circumstances. Suddenly a huge clawed hand grabs her through the folds of the canopy, and she's gone...
This is Goosebumps Alive, the live version of the classic Goosebumps horror books. The Vaults, a cavernous venue normally used as a gallery space, is a natural fit for bringing the scary tales to life for the very first time.

Author R.L. Stine began writing the books in the 90s, of which there are now over a hundred. Though aimed at children, they gained a huge fanbase among adults - at one point four million copies were being sold each month. This success led to spin-offs, merchandise, and more recently a film starring Jack Black.

The designers of Alice's Adventures Underground and Gingerline's supperclubs are behind the grotesquely beautiful artwork, plus costumes for the actors come courtesy of the team from Secret Cinema's Star Wars events. Alternative cabaret three-piece The Tiger Lillies provide suitably haunting music.

The show opens on April 6th, with separate - but no less frightening - performances for kids under 11.
