G&T’s all around! Gin has certainly undergone a renaissance and with the sales of the spirit being up by over a quarter in the past three years and more than a £1 billion being spent on it, there’s no doubt it is set to be the trendiest tipple of 2016.

To celebrate England’s most revered libation of the year, Fanny McGee invites lovers and friends Upstairs to Aunt Gertrude’s Gin Parlour and Salon at Mr Fogg’s Tavern for a very special Valentine’s Day Gin Safari. Suitors can surprise their sweethearts by reserving a space for the intriguing and unique Gin Tasting Experience or with an exclusive gift voucher to Mr Fogg’s Tavern to enjoy the marvels from the Dickensian Era.

Mr Fogg’s immaculately turned out staff will greet visitors on arrival and lead them upstairs to the eclectic Gin Parlour, filled wall-to-wall with London’s largest gin selection, featuring 269 of the rarest and most unique gins from around the globe. Decorated and furnished by the late Aunt Gertrude herself, the Gin Parlour offers a theatrical Victorian interior featuring the most wonderful collections of rare antiques and ornaments on every surface, all inspired by decorative art of Dickensian Britain.

A member of Mr Fogg’s world-class barmen will provide one and a half hours of tiptop tuition, whisking couples away on a Gin Safari to learn more about the origins to some of the most rare gins on earth, as well as an array of botanicals and tonics. Guests, will of course, sample six of the finest gins and enjoy two superb gin and tonics, made with their favourite varieties.

Couples can make themselves at home and enjoy a post-Gin Safari respite in Aunt Gertrude’s Salon. Guests will be met with velvet chaise lounges for a cosy knees-up and a bespoke Valentine’s Day cocktail menu, including exquisite tipples such as Aunt Gertrude’s Gentleman Caller and Shakespeare in Love. Guests order delectable nibbles including seasonal small dishes and Victorian delights for two, served in the wonderfully theatrical environment of the Salon decorated by Aunt Gertrude, herself.

Mr Fogg’s Tavern, located in Covent Garden, is the eighth project from Charlie Gilkes’ and Duncan Stirling’s Inception Group. Based on the adventures of Jules Verne’s fictional explorer, Phileas Fogg, Mr Fogg’s Tavern has an upstairs downstairs theatrical theme with a Victorian pub on the ground floor and a refined Gin Parlour and Salon upstairs. The Inception Group also own and operate secret Chelsea bar Barts, ‘80s themed nightclub, Maggie’s, the acclaimed Bunga Bunga, an Englishman’s Italian bar, pizzeria and karaoke joint in Battersea, Mr Fogg’s Residence in Mayfair, Brazilian-inspired club Cocobananas, mountain cabin and dance saloon, Beaver Lodge, and Cahoots, a late night bar that transports guests back in time to an abandoned 1940s themed underground tube station.
