When Tresor opened on March 13th 1991 in a small shack on Potsdamer Platz, few would suspect this unassuming space would give rise to a clubbing institution that would one day celebrate 25 years of existence. Over the past quarter of a century, Tresor has played a part in so many significant moments in Berlin's musical history. From Jeff Mills' first three turntable set, to the Tresor Park parties, to various infamous chapters of Sven Väth's Loveparade, Tresor has become intrinsically tied to the explosion of techno culture in its home city.

Juan Atkins and Moritz Von Oswald's contribution to the development of techno also cannot be overstated. Between these two, the Detroit-Berlin axis was formed, a twin city partnership that holds a profound influence on the form and function of modern electronic music. Juan Atkins, along with schoolmates Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, formed the Belleville Three in the 1980s and laid techno's foundation; a decade later, Moritz Von Oswald partnered with Mark Ernestus as Basic Channel, the duo whose deep, shadowy compositions wrote the blueprint for dub techno. Together, they are Borderland, a live project which focuses on the loose, jazzy end of the duo's musical palette. Launched in 2013 with a self-titled album on Tresor, they're the perfect headliners to celebrate 25 years of a techno institution.
