The Bluestocking Club, a brand new literary film club, will launch its first screening at Waterstone's Tottenham Court Road.
The Club will kick off with Valley of the Dolls, the eponymous adaptation of Jacqueline Susann’s 1967 box office hit. Turning 50 this year, the 1966 book, written by Jacqueline Susan, went from multiple rejections to one of the bestsellers of the sixties.
The screening will be introduced from by an expert and a beautiful edition of the book and companion titles will be on sale. A percentage of the ticket will be donated to the Refugee Support Network.
Along with brunch-style snacks and a literary-themed cocktail from the excellent bar staff at Waterstones TCR, there will be plenty of stimulation to ensure free-flowing discussion post-screening.
Inspired by the original Bluestockings of the 18th century, The Bluestocking Club merges book and film club with a programme of thought-provoking literary adaptations from period drama to film noir to sci-fi.
