Spend the evening with us as we demystify one of the newest discoveries in physics – gravitational waves.

Professor Martin Hendry from the University of Glasgow brings the latest sound of the universe to Kings Cross as he explains what gravitational waves are and what they can tell us about the cosmos.

Professor Hendry will be accompanied by composer Arthur Jeffes, who will be playing his musical interpretation of gravitational waves. Taking the findings from the LIGO experiment, Arthur has taken the "chirps" of data recorded from two black holes colliding millions of years ago, and transformed them into a musical masterpiece.

This event is part of the Institute of Physics Summer Sessions series, bringing physics research straight onto the steps of Granary square.

Drinks and snacks are available at the talk, and attendance is free, just make sure to register beforehand.
