Join us for this spring’s Eastern Promises intimate live performance with underground noise duo Love Cult.
Hailing originally from Republic of Karelia, North-West Russia, Anya Kuts and Ivan Zoloto are proof that the experimental music scene knows no borders.
The duo’s hypnotic work with beats, sounds and dark narratives that started in 2009 earned them gigs at festivals such as Sónar, CTM, Manifesta and Flow, as well as interest from the likes of London-based NTS Radio, The Wire and a few influential music labels.
For the first time in London, the duo will be performing live at Shoreditch Church in a unique setting, perfect for their fresh sound that the pair calls “no-tech”.
Also make sure not to miss the opportunity to meet the Love Cult and find out more about their independent record label at Love Cult: Making underground music in the Russian north at Calvert 22 on Thursday 5 May.
Hosted by The Calvert Journal, Eastern Promises is a series of regular music events dedicated to showcasing emerging music talents from the new east region: eastern Europe, the Balkans, Russia and Central Asia.
