Since first hitting the UK jazz scene more than 10 years ago, while still in her teens, Polly has developed into a consummate performer with a sultry, distinctive style as much at home singing tender jazz ballads as she is performing rockin’ R&B classics. A regular these days at venues up and down the country as well as numerous jazz festivals, she includes work with the likes of Joss Stone, Alison Moyet and Charlotte Church on an impressive CV, as well as being one of the resident singers with the Ronnie Scott’s House Band. She released her first UK Jazz album “My Own Company” featuring pianist James Pearson (Musical Director of Ronnie Scott’s) in 2014 and in a reflection of her growing stature as an international performer was signed in the same year to acclaimed US jazz label Resonance Records. As a result of that collaboration she recorded the album ‘Many Faces of Love’ in Los Angeles, going on to complete a highly successful preliminary tour of the US. The album was released globally in February 2015, leading to another US tour by popular demand. The music she will be performing tonight will be selection of material taken from these two most recent albums with a stellar band featuring her MD James Pearson-piano, Tim Thornton-bass and Chris Draper-drums. A very old friend of the Club (Polly performed her first London gig here, back in the day) it’s with great pleasure that we welcome this remarkable talent back to the 606.

“Polly Gibbons…a truly exceptional, once in a generation talent, possessing a voice of such sizzling intensity and raw emotion you could fry an egg on it” Jazzwise; “There’s a rare sense of joy in her voice, not to mention a depth of...feeling...remarkable” Evening Standard;
"stunning….so soulful...exudes strength, defiance and sassy wit...Gibbons possesses a raspy, lived-in tone, a walloping sense of swing and a dramatic flair that grabs the heart....[she has] a big future ahead of her, for sure" Blues & Soul
