AFTER – an exhibition of contemporary art by Fatima Fletcher & Jane Gifford

AFTER is a joint exhibition from the North London Artists Fatima Fletcher and Jane Gifford.

Fletcher and Gifford both make autobiographical art. They share a fascination with the idiosyncrasies of human behaviour and explore the highs and lows of their lives in a diverse collection of work.

Fatima uses video and photography to narrate stories, from the one-liner to the epic. In AFTER she tells of journeys, the turn and change of the seasons, love, duty and expectation - laced with nails, charms and macaroons.

Jane records memories in paintings and drawings. She has meticulously recorded remembered dreams for years and in her most recent work evokes memories of loss and love through drawings of items salvaged from her late parents’ home. Collections of apparently inconsequential objects gain significance as memoirs of previous lives.
