It is normal to think about looking after our hearts, but what about our brains? As we live longer it is more important to care for our most important asset - the most complex biological entity in the known universe - the human brain.

As Dementia Awareness Week begins, Dr Jamie Wilson, a dementia physician and founder of HomeTouch, and our guest dietitian, Penny Doyle, will be focusing on The Pillars of Brain Health.

Dr Wilson will be exploring the latest clinical research on how to improve cognition as we age and how to reduce risk factors for dementia. He will also discuss national guidelines that can help your patients, yourself or your relatives as well as giving hands-on advice and simple lifestyle tips on how to improve brain health.

Penny Doyle has over 20 years experience as a dietitian and works in Outpatients and GP practices across the county as well as providing nutrition consultancy, including writing health cookery books. Penny will focus on eating well and how diet can help maintain a good brain health. She will also be addressing the concerns family members have surrounding food and eating as dementia progresses.

In addition to learning about the fundamentals of brain health, this is a chance to meet others in the community, exchange experiences and ask questions in a relaxed environment over nibbles and drinks.
