The Star of Bethnal Green is bringing its unique brand of merriment and mirth-making out onto the streets of East London at the end of May with some delicious food, drinks, tunes and a whole load of shape-throwing. The area, long known for fostering strong community ties between businesses and residents alike, now rarity among many neighbourhoods in the capital, is the perfect setting for a family-friendly street party, harking back to the days of laid-back celebrations with neighbours.

This year’s event is set to be the best and most ambitious yet. The exciting line up sees DJ spinning their tunes from the Mirror Caravan, which is essentially a huge disco ball on wheels, with an already impressive showcase of talent including and Found duo The Menendez Brothers, disco king’s Stuart Patterson and Nick Gynn, Strangers in Paradise and Simon Kurrage.

Expect a plethora of high-quality booze-food including delectable stateside inspired stomach-lining from The Joint, purveyors of BBQ pulled meats and new residents at The Star of Bethnal Green the Joint making their debut (the go-to comfort food of the capital, which shows no signs of leaving anytime soon), and irresistible Caribbean chicken from Mama’s.

There’ll also be balloon making for little ones, photo booths to capture those timeless bank holiday moments and the return of the ever popular bouncy castle. Because exercise disguised as silliness isn’t just for kids, you know

The pavement revelry wraps up at around 9pm (boo-urns!) but the party continues inside till late, with everything the legendary East End boozer has to offer, with drinks packages chock full of fizz and everyone’s favourite party staple, the Jagerbomb, once again proving its well-deserved status as ‘the grown up raver’s boozer of choice’.

The Star of Bethnal Green was born from founder Rob Star’s vision to create a traditional pub with fun, good times and community space born from the ingenuity and community goodwill, the star groups venues have become stable parts of the communities that they sit within.
