Enter a world of alchemy from 25-26 May at Smiths of Smithfield, as part of the UK’s largest design festival. Guests can experience ‘Urban Alchemist’ workshops with renowned artist Lauren Baker, indie perfumer 4160Tuesdays and nature inspired mixologist, The Gin Garden. This full sensory experience is brought to you by the sponsors of Clerkenwell Design Week Fringe Festival, Greene & Co. and Urban Spaces.

During the event, world-renowned artist Lauren Baker will début her interactive sculpture ‘You move me’ – a back crystallised beating heart moulded from a real human heart. The heart begins to beat with unnerving realistic movement and sound when people are near, beating faster the closer you move towards it. Lauren Baker’s workshop, ‘Awakening the Alchemist within’, will give attendees the opportunity to use her precious materials to create their very own Lauren Baker inspired beating heart.

Indie perfumer and novelist Sarah McCartney will also be hosting a workshop with her company 4160Tuesdays. This alternative perfumery creates bespoke scents inspired from memories such as ‘A Kiss by the Fireside’ and ‘The Dark Heart of Old Havana’. 4160Tuesdays will present ‘The Urban Perfumery’ workshop, offering the chance to blend together different traditional plant aromas with new synthetics to design your own garden-inspired scent.

Top off your visit with a not-so-traditional chemistry lesson with Gin Garden. Their mixologists specialise in creating drinks inspired by garden, meadow and hedgerow, while creating visually stunning garden environments. They have featured at some of the UK’s most exceptional lifestyle events, with a client list ranging from Jimmy Choo to The National Trust.

Spaces are limited, so RSVP as soon as possible to confirm your attendance.
