OnBlackheath Festival in partnership with John Lewis, London’s most anticipated music, food and family festival, have partnered with Meantime Brewing Co. for another summer series of free gigs on top of Meantime’s Beer Box bar in Peninsula Square outside to The O2. Over June and July, sun-worshippers and music lovers can enjoy the eclectic sounds of the ‘In The Meantime’ Sessions, curated by the OnBlackheath team.

The 5 free ‘In the Meantime’ gigs feature artists including Big Deal, Yonaka, Riot Jazz, Harleighblu and Boxed In. Kicking off at 6pm, the shows will feature a headline act and be hosted by resident DJ, Lulu Le Vay, with some of the sessions including surprise support bands.

The gigs will serve as a warm-up and taster of what’s to come at the OnBlackheath Festival itself, which takes place on September 10th and 11th on Blackheath Common. For the third year running Meantime will be the main beer sponsor. The ongoing partnership between OnBlackheath and Meantime, and the ‘In The Meantime’ Sessions are testament to Meantime’s continued support of the local area and eagerness to encourage visitors to the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Meantime will return to the festival with the Beer Tank serving Brewery Fresh Lager, London Pale Ale and Yakima Red all on draught for thirsty festival goers and craft-beer lovers.

On the Bill we have Boxed In, the solo project from UK producer Oli Bayston who has produced a number of artists such as our ownRosie Lowe (set to play the Main Stage at the festival on Saturday 10th September) and has been a long-time collaborator with Dan Carey (producer of Hot Chip, Toy, Kate Tempest). Since the release of his debut album, Boxed In has enjoyed a sold-out UK tour and has carried on to amaze crowds across Europe with his blend of Krautrock and House Music that never fails to get the dancefloor going! Come and check out his music on Thursday 7th July.

We also have London indie-rockers Big Deal who received instant acclaim when they were asked by Depeche Mode to support them on their 2011 tour. Their 2016 euphoric single “Say Yes” received impressive reactions from music press and they are geared up to take to the stage at this year’s Summer Sessions on Thursday 16th June.

Festival veterans Riot Jazz will be bringing the brass on Friday 1st July. Riot Jazz are a 9-piece brass band made up of trumpets, trombones, a sousaphone, drums and the always-hyped MC Chunky. They play a uniquely twisted mix of funk, soul, hip-hop and aggressive jazz with their infamous pop-covers thrown in for good measure.

Harleighblu, chosen by Craig Charles to perform at OnBlackheath Festival, takes to the Beer Box on Saturday 2nd July. Harleighblu’s incredible funk and sensational soul music is driven by her awesome voice that is both effortless and seductive. Also playing are Brighton new kids, Yonaka, who have created a huge storm just from their Soundcloud uploaded song ‘Run’. From the back of ‘Run’ with it’s powerful riff and lead-singer Theresa Jarvis’s formidable RnB vocals they signed to Phil Taggart’s Hometown Records and have been proving themselves with their debut single 'Ignorance' achieving over 15 Radio 1 plays and a series of headline shows around the country. See them perform on Saturday 18th June.

Beer Box Sessions:

Big Deal – 16th June
Yonaka – 18th June
Riot Jazz – 1st July
Harleighblu – 2nd July
