Renowned artist Pauline Amos previews her latest work at Hodsoll on Portobello Road.

Pauline first came to the media's attention in 2005, with a painting on sale in London for £1.3m - a comment on the art/commodities markets.

Her work combines representational and abstract elements with its sensual depiction of expressive, angst-riddled faces and distorted figurative gestures. Expanding the tradition of abstract expressionism, her work has won critical attention for its powerful, bold brushwork on large canvases and her often violent and aggressive content represents the fight and struggle for freedom, defying any oppression or limitation in life or the world politics. Anger and despair are conveyed through her paintings and performance works - there is a beautiful integrity in the truth of her clear, authentic mark- making.
