British documentary powerhouse Dogwoof and House of Vans are joining forces to bring you an exclusive screening of Author: The JT Leroy Story. Author chronicles the story behind literary persona JT LeRoy, the fictional writer created by American author Laura Albert.

New York magazine’s October 2005 issue sent shockwaves through the literary world when it unmasked “it boy” wunderkind JT LeRoy, whose tough prose about his sordid childhood had captivated icons and luminaries internationally. It turned out LeRoy didn’t actually exist. He was dreamed up by 40-year-old San Francisco punk rocker and phone sex operator, Laura Albert.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Mia Bays, Oscar winning producer who runs Birds Eye View Film and Anna Smith, Film Critic and Chair of the UK Critics Circle.
