Ex-pat US vocal/guitar duo Kim & Steve Wright have been making music together for over 10 years, and so it's no surprise that this husband & wife combination, performing under their band name of DaysAhead, share a remarkable chemistry. Their musical style, which they like to refer to as "Jazz-n-Roll" (cute), is an eclectic mix of jazz, soul and a little bit of rock that, as they say "takes the audience on a sonic ride of African-American rhythms and improvisations, blended with European harmonies and styling". Originally from Louisiana Kim's powerful, soulful voice is the perfect foil for Virginia-born guitarist/composer Steve, making for an exciting and captivating gig to both see and hear. Highly experienced musicians, DaysAhead include work with the likes of The Brand New Heavies, Al Green, Chaka Khan, Gnarls Barkley and George Duke on an impressive cv that covers three continents. Tonight’s program will include originals and specially arranged covers from their acclaimed debut CD, “Turning Point”, as well as from their upcoming album. For their gig tonight Kim & Steve have put together a full band of ace UK based musicians, featuring Giazonne Reyes on bass, Simon Lea on drums and Dudley Moore on percussion. I first heard Kim "sitting in" with the excellent singer/pianist Theo Jackson (Thu 25th) and was so impressed with what I heard that I immediately offered her a gig, which doesn't happen that often. Highly recommended (by me!).

“…their eclectic, engaging brand of music shows that this is an original group bursting with its own distinct style…using Steve’s electric guitar as the musical centerpiece…and Kim, a wonderful smoky-voiced singer...top notch” SoulTracks; “Steve and Kim's own blend of soul, funk and rock is a welcome breath of fresh air” Jazz-not-Jazz; “…a sound that’s both contemporary and timeless....an air-tight band and a bewitching front woman.” RhythmFlow
