London’s biggest celebration of historic and traditional boats

Central London’s only marina, St Katharine Docks, is hosting its 8th annual celebration of beautiful classic boats this September with a display of over 40 vintage sailing and motor yachts, alongside a range of waterside attractions.

A fun day out for all the family, the event will provide Londoners with an insight into the excitement of boating from a bygone era and is a core highlight of the Totally Thames celebration, a month-long season of river-related events taking place along the 42-mile London stretch of the Thames.

Taking place over the weekend of 10th and 11th September 2015 (11am-5pm), the St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival will provide an opportunity for visitors to chat to the boat owners and even climb on board, with key vessels including Little Dunkirk Ships, Havengore, the Massey Shaw and Portwey.

This year St Katharine Docks is also hosting the Blue Ribbon village on behalf of the Totally Thames Festival with MBNA Thames Clippers, The Thames Rockets, The PLA and Blue Lamp Afloat powerboat training all taking part. Moo Canoes will also be offering free taster canoe sessions in the marina!

Other highlights include a wide range of leading waterside restaurants - including Tom’s Kitchen, Bravas Tapas and White Mulberries – plenty of scrummy street food with St Katharine Docks World Food Market, and stalls and family activities on Marble Quay. There will also be a variety of live music with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Barnet Hill Life Boat Crew sea shanty singers, energetic folk band The Salts and 2012 Olympic opening ceremony performers Pandemonium Drummers providing live entertainment throughout the weekend.
