Alice Watts and Abimaro play The George Tavern, promoting their new albums!

ALICE WATTS

“Her striking blend of folk and soul is a delight” Kat Jackman, Huffington Post

“One of the best new artists I’ve had the pleasure of hearing” Polly James, Absolute Radio

Just some of the unmistakably genuine plaudits showered upon London based singer-songwriter Alice Watts whose new album ‘Blue Gold’ will be released in September 2016. Following on from the success of her debut album ‘Your World’ and EP ‘Do Not Awaken Love’, Alice has spent the last two years crafting the tracks on the new album.

Recorded in East London’s Limehouse Soup Studios with producers Andy Dollerson and Jacob Owen, aka DO sounds - at the desk. They worked whenever they could get studio space and time, only taking a brief break when Jacob was suddenly hit by lightening whilst in New York!

Alice was influenced at an early age by musicians passing through her neighbour’s home-recording studio in South London – her sound brings together a unique blend of soul and folk.

ABIMARO

It's a fusion of Abi, which means I will and Maro, which means Love.

"If my name means something, then surely every word means something. Surely every word carries great significance."

From writing short stories as a young girl to studying songwriting at Goldsmith’s University, South London singer/songwriter Abimaro’s lyrical craftsmanship and delicate melodies have set her apart as a talented wordsmith and an evocative performer. Born to an English mother and a Ugandan father, words have always been a powerful tool of expression, and it is this sensitivity to language that lends Abimaro’s lyrics their poetic clarity and her voice its ethereal soul.
