Opening at the Emmaus Greenwich, Poplar Shop on Friday 7th October, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London presents Cabinet Stories, a touring programme of fashion exhibitions and workshops, featuring the work of some of fashion’s leading curators and designers.

Cabinet Stories launched in early 2016 and travelled to three venues where audiences are usually unable to access museum displays. Cabinet Stories launched at a women’s prison in London and then toured to a facility for patients with borderline personality disorder at the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), and then to Anchor Silk Court, a specialist care home for older people in Bethnal Green.

Cabinet Stories will now be open to the public for the first time at Emmaus Greenwich, Poplar shop.

The cabinet housed one exhibition at a time, curated by seven curators working in London, who also delivered a series of workshops and talks at each venue. At Emmaus all the exhibitions will be on display at the same time, accompanied by a workshop programme.

Themes covered by the Cabinet Stories exhibitions include clothing and memory, historical dress no longer worn and the use of traditional craft techniques within contemporary fashion. Designers on display including Charlotte Olympia, Peter Jensen, Faustine Steinmetz and Phoebe English.

Using fabric donated by designer Peter Jensen, a limited edition tote bag has been created to be sold at Emmaus. The bags have been handmade by women at the Training and Manufacture Workshop based at HMP Downview, an initiative which is run by London College of Fashion, UAL. The bags cost £16 and all profits will be donated to Emmaus.
