Gateway Housing Association celebrate 90 years bringing homes to lower income households in London's East End with this fascinating exhibition, East End: The Place We Call Home.

The exhibition tells the remarkable tales of people who live in the East End, like Daisy who lived under the railway arches after being bombed out in WW2, or Deng, whose family moved to Tower Hamlets from Vietnam. It also highlights unsung residents of the past like Edith Ramsay, known as the Florence Nightingale of the Brothels.

With never -been - seen before archive and first - hand accounts, it brings to life how our homes can change our lives, as well as the unique story and history behind social housing. Bearing in mind how housing affects us all today this timely exhibition give us all a chance to reflect on the place we call home.

The exhibition is called: The East End – The Place We Call Home. It’s a free exhibition by Gateway Housing Association brought to the Idea Store Bow. It runs at Idea Stores across Tower Hamlets until March.
