The Cuban Jam with Grupo Lokito

On Fridays, Havana’s nightlife comes to the Forge. Come and party with London’s Cuban community - everyone’s welcome! - try your hand (or feet) at salsa or enjoy live music from the city’s best Cuban musicians (and others that have flown in to play).

Every week a different, fluid group of musicians get together on stage, keeping the music authentic but yet with spice and variety. You can also enjoy Cuban & latin beats from in-demand resident DJ Javier La Rosa before and after the live band.

Grupo Lokito fuse contemporary Congolese and Cuban music creating a modern day cocktail of two of the great world musics.
- Based in London, the band have taken the UK by storm, wowing festivals and the club circuit alike with their blistering grooves and outlandish dance moves.
- The glorious melodious vocals of Congolese frontmen Eugene Makuta and Iddo Donnatella blend with soaring guitars courtesy of Congolese guitar hero Mbokalia Faso Kasongo, rhythmic grooves from @Chocolat and the lilting keyboards of Sara. All of this sits on top of the rhythmic powerhouse team of Michel (drums), Emeris (Congas) and Elpidio (bass).
- Grupo Lokito write their own original tunes: stories of life ranging from tales of love, reflections on the trials facing musicians trying to make a home away from home, the wisdom of the elders and the simple joy of dancing.
