Dr Charlotte de Mille (curator of the music programme at The Courtauld Gallery), Alex Haigh(tenor) and Natalie Burch(piano).

Dr Charlotte de Mille will introduce us to Impressionist paintings that reflected the growing popularity of the theatre in Paris and its Bohemian society towards the end of the 19th century which included Vincent Hsypa (writer of songs), Eric Satie(musician), Jane Avril(dancer) and Henri Toulouse-Lautrec (painter - of posters). The period contemporary to Puccini’s 1896 opera.

Alex Haigh(tenor) will then look at the reception of Don Giovanni in France and compare and contrast this production with the modern artistic life of La Boheme.

Opera Prelude is a small charity passionate about supporting young professional opera singers who give lecture recitals in London. These friendly and inclusive events will introduce you to the international opera singers of tomorrow by way of recitals, concerts and masterclasses
