Reworked is an exciting vibrant exploration of the photographic medium. This exhibition marks the end of a yearlong project by the F20 collective. It brings together a group of photographers whose different approaches, subjects and styles hint at the enormous possibilities that can be included under the overarching title of ‘Photography.’
Photography is many different things to different people. For some it is an important means of recording events and documenting change, from family albums to historical archives. For others it is a means of promoting concepts or objects – an advertising image portraying an inspirational item or lifestyle, or a ‘fine art’ image whereby the photographer uses the medium of photography as additional to the creative’s toolbox of pencils, pens and paints to convey to their audience their viewpoint on a given subject. Photographs can be Fine Art, documentation, propaganda, promotion, any one of many other categorisations, or a mixture of all of them. Each artist has created a narrative for the viewer in their own unique style celebrating the fact that, photography means many things to different people. One person’s interpretation of an image can vary wildly from that of the next, with each viewer unable to avoid bringing their own personal experiences and memories to that image. It is that almost infinite variation that makes photography such an intriguing subject and one that can comprise a fascinating exhibition.
