Experience some of London’s most popular public places in a new way as free interactive installations transform the city.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “Whether it’s the splash of colour from banners and bunting, or the surprise of giant ambient javelins or tea-making machines, London will be an enchanting place to be this summer like no other.”

This summer’s moments of Wonder include:

  • Gift from the Olympic Gods Shot Put - this giant replica of an Olympic shot put measures an impressive 3m across and will appear as if partially embedded in the ground.

  • House of Flags - a colourful giant installation features 205 panels representing the flags of each country taking part in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Designed by AY Architects, Yeoryia Manolopoulos and Anthony Boulanger.

  • Gift from the Olympic Gods Javelin - this 10m-long replica of an Olympic javelin will appear in surprising places across London.

  • Universal Tea Machine - by pulling a sequence of handles and following a simple set of commands people can create their very own perfect cuppa. Designed by Bartlett UCL.

  • Gift from the Olympic Gods, Bow and Arrows - this 7m long replica Olympic archery bow will appear alongside five matching arrows.

London’s also set to get a gorgeous new look this summer with bunting, banners and more, as the city dresses up for the 2012 Games.
