140 American oak barrels shipped from Tennessee to create the spectacular Jack Daniels Barrel Tree
WHERE? East Piazza, Covent Garden (the Royal Opera House side)
WHEN? From Tuesday 27th November throughout the Christmas season
.....................................
For the first time, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey will build an 8m high Whiskey Barrel Tree in London’s Covent Garden East Piazza, beginning a new tradition.
Each of the 140 white oak barrels (originally used to mature whiskey) has been shipped directly from Tennessee. The tree will become one of the city’s most recognisable and distinctive of the Christmas season.
The tree’s lights will be switched on by Randy ‘Goose’ Baxter, who works at the distillery, is a star of Jack Daniel’s Tube adverts and has never left America before!
The tree will feature 9 tiers and take 11 people 2 days to build. 3 workers from the Lynchburg distillery are escorting the barrels from Tennessee to London and will be involved in the build. The workers have 100 years experience with the company between them.
Festive shoppers will also be able to buy bottles of the highly limited edition Jack Daniel’s Holiday Select 2012 whiskey at the tree.
Adding to London's festive illumination, the tree will guarantee fun for visitors in the capital's premier shopping district.
"Londoners love to come together at Christmas, just like Mr. Jack Daniel did"...Goose
