To Draw Or Not To Draw...

Love London

That is the question. I for one cannot draw for toffee, though I can appreciate a good sketch as much as the next fashion fiend.

This weekend I hotfooted it down to the Drawing Fashion exhibition, on display at the Design Museum until March 6th. The exhibition delivers on it's promise of celebrating some of the best illustrations from the last two centuries, and the masterminds that created them.

For those who claim fashion isn't an art form, think again. The calibre of illustration on display is astounding - unfortunately photography wasn't allowed, but take my word for it, it is worth seeing. It collates work from the collections of, amongst others, Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garçons and Poiret as well as Viktor & Rolf, Lacroix and McQueen. From Lepape at the beginning of the century to current creators such as Francois Berthoud, illustrations are perfectly accessorised with film-clips, music and photography. 30 years in the making, it's the first time the exhibition has been displayed.

For those who want to get in touch with their creative side, next Monday and Wednesday (17th and 19th) will see Fashion Illustration Masterclasses at the museum at 11am, priced £25.

There will also be an event held on Wednesday 26th of world-renowned milliner Stephen Jones in conversation with Colin McDowell - well worth the £15 price tag.
