One of the highlights of the day, the Aminaka Wilmont show at Somerset House was a veritable wish-list of things I want for AW11. The muted colours of black, stone and grey let the clothes do the talking; leathers and softly draped silks were the prevailing fabrics, with the brand's signature body-con styling in abundance within the beautifully cut dresses in blurred digital prints. This winter's must-have aviator jacket was revived with a waterfall-front design (DEFINITELY saving up for that one...) and the leather-sleeved wrap coat was another highlight.
Husband and wife team Maki Aminaka and Marcus Wilmont departed with the more girly stylings of past seasons and headed towards a look with a lot more attitude; it definitely worked. Models took to the catwalk with tightly braided hair, coloured contact lenses and over knee socks worn with clumpy shoes, almost giving the impression of woodland hunters on a mission. With this being their seventh season on-schedule, this design duo keep getting stronger and stronger, undoubtedly one of my favourite shows so far and one I shall beg, borrow or steal a ticket for come September!
