Grand Dame of British fashion Vivienne Westwood has teamed up with Marie Claire magazine to launch a limited edition T-shirt dress, to raise awareness of deforestation.
With deforestation a real threat to our climate and the survival of millions of people, all proceeds from the sales of the dress will support the forest tribes of Bangladesh, whose lives and livelihoods have been deeply endangered by deforestation.
The campaing supports the idea of ethically-sourced clothing; created by People Tree the dress uses only 100% organic fair trade cotton, with clothes made entirely by hand, helping to create livelihoods for diadvantaged groups in Bangladesh, India and Nepal. In Vivienne’s words ‘Buy less, choose well'. This month's issue of Marie Claire contains a special Rainforest editorial, guest edited by Westwood, published in 24 editions of the magazine across the world.
£28 from www.peopletree.co.uk and £7 from each sale will help support Forest Tribes.
