Lashtastic

Love London

I am one of those who unfortunately is not naturally blessed with gloriously long eyelashes. I am generally in envy of most boys, babies and my friend Hattie who all appear to have far more than their fair share, and I dread to think of the number of lash boosting mascaras I have tried out in the last ten years. Upon deciding enough was enough, I recently hauled my sorry self down to Covent Garden’s Browhaus to sort it out.

Connoisseurs of brow and treatments, Browhaus have now added the new Lash In Bloom treatment to their already impressive menu, promising beefed up luscious lashes within the hour. I'm rubbish at putting on fake lashes myself, and the prospect of not only having someone do it for me but them lasting 4-6 weeks was just too tempting to resist.

The salon is nestled on Floral Street, two minutes from Covent Garden tube yet away from the hustle and bustle, and share it's space with the Ministry of Waxing - also on my to-do list. Modern and minimalist yet still managing to be trendy and calming, I was led downstairs to my appointment where the process was explained. Individual lashes would be attached to mine before being coated with a black glue-like substance that acts like a permanent mascara. After selecting the kind of look I wanted (there was a choice of two, one slightly more dramatic than the other) I laid back, relaxed, and let the lash expert do her thing...

I'm not sure exactly how long it took, I think I almost dozed off, but in less than an hour I was transformed. I'll admit on the first look I was a little shocked - they do look like I've curled a primped them with a few coats of mascara ready for a night on the town which, without other make up on can look a bit much. However as soon as I've caked on my full face of slap they totally look the part. Now I can't imagine life without them. Usually the lashes last 4-6 weeks, infills are sometimes needed after 2 or 3 as your natural lashes grow underneath and the fakes start to fall out, and you can book in to get them removed at the salon. Be warned - if you try and remove them yourself you may pull out your real ones... best leave it to the pros...
