As I work, my dog is taken out each day by professional dog walkers. Although this week he has to stay at home.
The reason is that one of the other dogs has a bad case of Kennel Cough and the walkers - being responsible - want to prevent any other dogs from contracting the illness. Which is usually like a mild cold, but can be serious.
When I checked with my vet I found that whilst my dog's normal vaccinations were completely up to date, he had not had a vaccination for Kennel Cough as this is something that must be requested separately.
So if you have a dog who spends time with other dogs, you should check that he or she has the relevant vaccinations. The cost is around £26.
Is your dog vaccinated against Kennel Cough?
