Some of Britain’s biggest celebrities are lending a ‘hat’ to support homelessness charity St Mungo’s which will auction the headwear of some of Britain’s best loved sports stars, actors and musicians via an online celebrity hat auction, to raise vital funds.

Over 25 celebrities have offered their hats for sale so far, including Alexei Sayle, Jenson Button, Daniel Craig, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bush, Ricky Gervais, Renee Zellweger, Hugh Jackman, Annie Lennox, Roger Federer, Sienna Miller, Rio Ferdinand, Ed Sheeran and Devlin.

One of the ‘star’ lots is a Daniel Craig signed baseball cap from the set of ‘Skyfall’, the new James Bond film. Hats have also been donated by gold medal winners from this summer’s games including Ellie Simmons, triathlete Alastair Brownlee and boxer Anthony Joshua.

The auction is taking place to mark the charity’s Woolly Hat Day (Friday 26 October), when St Mungo’s will ask the public to ‘put their hat on for homeless people’. Funds raised from Woolly Hat Day will help St Mungo’s work supporting homeless people to rebuild their lives.

St Mungo’s provides housing and support to more than 1,700 people each night in London, Oxfordshire, Reading, Bath, Bristol, Herts and Beds. Its vision is that everyone should have a decent place to live, something meaningful to do, and satisfying relationships with people – as well as the good health to enjoy them.

The charity runs over 100 projects across London and the South. In the last year the charity helped 430 people off the streets of London. It helped 1,176 people move on from our accommodation and helped nearly 2,000 people with their mental health and substance use problems.
