Coast's Celebration of British Glamour

Love London

Evening wear extraordinaires Coast have partnered with the V&A Museum to create a new collection of beautiful ballgowns, inspired by the hugely successful exhibition, Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950.

The Coast design team utilised their unprecedented access to the V&A costume archives to create a collection of six showstopping gowns that exude the glamour of the past century. Each style echoes the silhouette and essence of the era it is inspired by, using modern twists and techniques to create something new and totally desirable.

The dresses are named after 1950s debutantes - Blanche, Lottie, Phoebe, Patience, Cecily and Daphne - and have the kind of spectacular corsetry, fabric choices and attention to detail usually reserved for the ateliers of a couture house.

The standout for me is the mouthwateringly glamorous Patience (£895). Inspired by the bias-cut elegance of the 1930s, it could have been one of Keira Knightley's costumes in Atonement, such is it's beauty.

Coast design director Kim Elliot says, "It was incredible to have access to the V&A's amazing and inspirational collection to create the Coast Ballgown Collection. We felt truly inspired and very lucky to have this opportunity to delve into the glamorous past to create modern day glamour”.

Prices start from £550 and the range is available now in selected Coast locations (including Oxford Circus) and online at www.coast-stores.com
