Try as I might, I will never be able to achieve big hair without a little help. I can tease, backcomb, mousse and spray until the cows come home, but no matter how hard I try it will undoubtedly revert back to it's virgin state of straight and flat within a matter of minutes.
It's the same story with up dos. I'd love to embrace the beehive for example- somewhat elongating to my slightly chubby cheeks - but alas, it's just too much hard work for too little return. Any styling tool that assists with such a mission is embraced with open arms, hence why I let out a slight squeal upon hearing of the latest addition to the Lauren's Way range, The Big Bun.
The former TOWIE starlet has added to her collection of Essex girl must-haves this giant mesh doughnut to seriously beef up lacklustre locks. I love a bun, but mine generally end up looking more apricot sized than doughnut, so keen to give it a try I got hold of one to experiment. Available in two sizes, Big (16cm x 7cm) and Bigger (a massive 17cm x 8cm) and three colours, black, brown and blonde, if you aren't familiar with the concept already the doughnut is slipped over a ponytail before the hair is wrapped around it to cover the mesh and pinned in place.
The clue is in the name with this one - it most certainly is a Big Bun, enormous in fact. Depending on how much hair you have you may need a little extra help; mine isn't very thick so doesn't quite cover the bun. Luckily I have some extensions to assist with this dilemma, but if you fancy investing in some of those Lauren's Way also have a range of uber-long (20 inch!), real hair extensions in nine colours that do a pretty good job (£79.95).
Having perfected the art of the Big Bun I may start channeling my inner SJP (a particularly good bun occurs at the very end of Season 4 Episode 16 of SATC...) and embracing this as my new go-to style...
