Fashion Goes Vino

Love London

Everyone seems to have been turning to their wine glass for colour inspiration this season. Burgundy, claret, merlot - anything goes so long as it's drinkable. Seen at catwalks across the board and now all over the high street, these delectable shades are one of my autumnal favourites, so wearable and work perfectly with my standard seasonal wardrobe of grey, navy and denim. I've picked my favourite five so you don't have to.

The brilliant Celtic & Co. may be known as purveyors of the finest sheepskin boots, but they also do a mighty good line in knitwear. The Penhallow jumper, in extra fine merino wool with a chic exposed zip back, is just the ticket to nail autumn layering before it gets too chilly. Pictured in Fig, be warned that the navy version is also an investment buy... £90 from www.celticandco.co.uk

Beloved of many a sloaney teenage girl, Jack Wills has come up trumps with the ideal boot for the season. Ruggedly practical, the delightfully mannish Forres brogue style maintains an air of femininity. They've been created by family-run company NPS who have been making British shoes in Northamptonshire since 1881, so your feet are in good hands. £198 from www.jackwills.com

A decent tote bag is always an essential for me, especially when lugging around changes of shoes, umbrellas and layers for this unpredictable English weather. Mimi Berry's Chester tote is perfect; not too big that it'll throw your back out when full, it's made of beautifully soft leather with contrasting veg-tanned straps and hard leather base. £234 from www.mimiberry.co.uk

If by some miracle the rain does ever stop this autumn, I shall be skipping out in these irresistible Marks & Spencer oxblood penny loafers. I'm not entirely sure how long they will stay shiny for, but the luxurious leather uppers & bespoke hardware combine with super soft leather linings and flexible molded soles for the ultimate in luxurious comfort, part of the new, exquisitely made Footglove Premium range. £59 from www.marksandspencer.com

Finally, high up there on my autumn lust list has got to be Mulberry's simply mouthwatering Willow clutch. Butter soft suede and ostrich leather combine into a beautifully simplistic clutch, stunning yet practical and finished with the brand's signature gold hardware. A girl can dream... £995 at www.mulberry.com
