Hypnotherapy - An Easy Way To Change

Love London

I’d never thought much about hypnotherapy before I came across Easy Way To Change. The practice most certainly comes with many negative connotations of losing control, being hypnotised to think you’re a chicken, or to drop your trousers every time someone says a secret word, but don’t believe everything you see on TV, for it couldn’t be further than the truth.

Earlier this year I visited Chloe Brotheridge at her treatment room near Old Street to learn more about hypnotherapy, and to try it out myself.

Hypnosis works by tapping in to your subconscious and using the power of it, and your imagination, to make it easier to make the changes you want in your life. Be it losing weight, sleeping better, overcoming a phobia or helping quit smoking, it can be used for a whole manner of situations to improve your life. It could be a niggling problem, or something that’s been plaguing you for years; success stories from Chloe’s past clients were enough to convince me to give it a go. If you’re not sure it’s for you, she offers a free consultation, so there’s nothing to lose.

It works by inducing a trance, a natural state of mind where your conscious mind becomes extremely relaxed and focused in order to enable your subconscious mind to become open and receptive to suggestions designed to help you; it addresses the root cause of a problem, enabling you to effectively make changes.

I won’t go in to the details of what it is I went to Chloe for, hypnosis being a personal matter and all, but suffice to say in spite of a tiny niggle of scepticism, I went in with an open mind. I wasn’t expecting to be crying in front of a total stranger within ten minutes, but sometimes when faced with a random stranger you’re unfurling life’s problems to it’s unavoidable. It’s easy to go in with a simple request (I want to be hypnotised to love the gym and hate junk food, for example), Chloe will get to the root of the problem in order to address it; why do you hate the gym? Why can’t you resist junk food? What’s stopping you at the moment?

The process itself is somewhat surreal, yet fascinating. Sitting back in a reclining chair, the dull noises of London’s streets in the background, I was gently led into a trance. I noticed my arms and legs tingling, and an overwhelming feeling of heavy numbness. While throughout the whole session I could hear what Chloe was saying to me, I felt very much semi-conscious as mentioned earlier, as if daydreaming that she was there at all. What struck me is that I very much in control of everything; I could hear myself in my head replying to her comments, telling myself she was making sense and digesting her words. I wasn’t sure before starting that it would ‘work’, that I would succumb to the trance, and yet I very much did.

Since my session a couple of months ago I have noticed subtle improvements; not major, yet, (it usually requires two or three sessions to get optimum results) but I’ve certainly had a bit more of a spring in my step and a bit less of a worry. It’s most certainly something I would try again, I would be fascinated after reading Chloe’s success stories to see if I can knock my quibble on the head for good. Only time will tell!
