A date for your diaries, as the Fashion Space Gallery, located at London College of Fashion, has announced a new exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier's graphic design work.
Jean Paul Gaultier: Be My Guest will run from 11th April to 31st May and feature imagery, which he created, from the 1980s to now including the couturier’s unique designs for invitations to haute couture and prêt-à-porter shows, as well as his iconic advertising campaigns.
The satellite show of the Barbican Art Gallery’s exhibition, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, traces a trajectory through the evolution of his work and reveals the themes and concepts which have led to his long-standing reputation as fashion’s 'enfant terrible'. Included in the exhibition are invitations and campaigns for seminal collections including the invite to his first women’s prêt-à-porter collection launched for Spring/Summer 1977 through to the advertising campaign for his Tribute to Frida Kahlo collection, Spring/Summer 1998.
The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is organised by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, Paris. The exhibition is on view at the Barbican from 9th April to 25th August 2014.
