Masters of fragrance Penhaligon's have come up trumps again with the launch of the Countryside Candle Collection, their new range of triple-wicked candles. The four evocative scents will transport you to the fragrant heart of Britain, with each candle is inspired by a traditional country pastime.
An Amble in the Orchard is a bright green blend of basil and green pea, lent a fresh tartness by apples and pears, with rose, musk and vetiver providing a light warmth. A Picnic in the Meadow on a pillowy blanket of grass, suggested by herbal notes of new mown hay, clary sage and clover, whilst sun-warmed hay, amber, oakmoss and patchouli provide a luminous, balmy breeze.
A Walk in the Woods is next on the agenda. Sage, violet leaf, muguet and a bed of moss sit below tall and proud woodland trees, suggested here by soft smoky notes of cedarwood, sandalwood, and patchouli. Finally, the most English of countryside pursuits, Tea on the Terrace is taken in the surrounds beautiful English garden: lilac, rose, hyacinth and narcissus in full bloom are blended with a gentle, sweet twist of heliotrope and choisya.
