London Dog Blog – Purple Bone at Westfield London

Dogs in London - The London Dog Blog

On my way to meet a friend for one of those Westfield lunch-and-shopping sessions (Alfie had been left at home in the cool with my daughter) I passed Purple Bone and was compelled to go in and have a look (i.e. buy a present for Alfie because I felt guilty about leaving him at home).

The first thing that strikes you is the array of dazzlingly bright colours on everything. I stopped to read a bit about the background to the store and learned that the owners (who have three Lakeland Terriers and come from the USA) set up in 2010 to provide affordable, stylish and fun products for dogs.

There was a good selection of bowtie collars (£24.99) and some pretty floral collars and leads – perfect for the summer. I had been thinking about harnesses recently (having seen my friend retrieve her puppy Border Terrier from trouble rather gracefully with one) and there were some nice designs.

There were lots of toys – most of them small and reasonably priced. I liked the “Keep calm and Play” (£2.99) red tennis ball. And of course there were some outfits – there were cute polo shirts – again in those bright colours – from £16.99 and some adorable hoodies at £17.99.

There were racks of popular baggy brands and a small but beautifully formed selection of other doggy goods – including some beds.

There was a wall of dog food brands and another of grooming products that would put a human beauty counter to shame. My eye caught sight of Animology’s “Fox Poo Shampoo” (£6.99) – and let’s be honest, we all need that because if they find it, they roll in it.

I probably shouldn’t mention it but there was a smaller selection of cat food and goodies in a corner. And I absolutely adored the cardboard cat tee-pee (£24.99) and fire-engine. I would have got one for Alfie but he would chew it to shreds within minutes I’m sure.

Such gorgeous products and at reasonable prices – I will return.
