The Dining Room is served its first star

Just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace - and purportedly the Queen's favourite place to eat - The Goring Dining Room has been awarded its first Michelin star.

The restaurant, located in the luxurious setting of the five-star Goring hotel, celebrates a roll call of British classics... dishes like Roast Halibut, Farm Duck, Beef Wellington, Suffolk Pork and Glazed Lobster Omelette would make Mrs Beeton proud.

The award acknowledges Executive Chef Shay Cooper's creative British food, and excellent wine list from the eatery's own cellar under the guidance of Head Sommelier Olivier Clausse.

The Michelin's guide's editor, Rebecca Burr, commented: "The food at The Dining Room at The Goring is a really pleasing mix of British classics and lighter, more modern dishes, all prepared with great skill and understanding."

Praise, indeed.
