Sure to be a spring sell-out, Marks & Spencer has this week announced an exclusive collaboration with Michael Van Der Ham, due to hit stores in April.
The eight piece capsule accessories range, comprising five shoe and three handbag styles, has been designed in conjunction with M&S's in-house team, inspired by Van Der Ham's own love of eclectic fabric composition and surprising use of colour, something that's been prevalent in his collections since his graduation from Central St. Martin's back in 2009.
He commented on the collection; ‘Contrasting fabrications and the layering of textures have always inspired my creative; so I wanted to produce a capsule collection of accessories that was true to this aesthetic, but with a playful Spring edge’.
My picks are the two Chanel-worthy chain handle bags in gorgeous spring colour combos, including a vibrant acid yellow.
Karen Peacock Head of Design for Footwear & Accessories at Marks & Spencer comments; ‘Michael’s unique approach to design and textiles has been hugely inspiring to work alongside, as his signature style has been elegantly interpreted for the Marks & Spencer consumer.’
Part of the ‘M&S &’ series - a sequence of unique, exclusive collections in collaboration with some of today’s most exciting designers, brands & fashion icons - it's on sale in store and online from 14th April. Get the date in your diary; I have a feeling these pieces won't be around for long...
