THREE OF THE BEST: FACE CREAMS FOR WINTER SKIN

Love London

As if we didn’t have enough drama to contend with, the recent cold snap twinned with has been wreaking havoc with my skin and I’m sure I’m not the only one. While there are a million and one moisturisers out there, if your usual isn’t cutting the mustard it can be something of a minefield trying to decide on a new one. Here’s a trio I’ve tried recently that are doing the job.

GLAMGLOW SUPERWATERGEL Clarifying Triple-Acid Oil-Free Moisturiser is a lightweight water gel but with instant hydration, clarifying and controlling shine without instigating new breakouts. The Triple Acid Blend of Salicylic, Glycolic and Pyruvic Acids release a gentle yet effective does of AHA and BHA to help keep the complexion clear while Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin give 24 hour weightless hydration. I’ve been enjoying using this as part of my morning regime as the formula isn’t too thick or heavy, disappearing instantly making it perfect for wearing under makeup. £39/50ml from www.glamglow.co.uk.

Studio Botanic is a new to the UK German brand with a ‘less is more’ principle. Their products are consciously created without unnecessary ingredients and each of the eight unisex products is created from purely plant-based ingredients to make highly effective yet natural formulations. Their Face Cream (£30/50ml from www.level7beautyhall.com) combines hemp and olive oil with vegan wax to provide intensive moisturisation without greasing. Light and non-greasy,  it’s a a slight step up from the previous in terms of moisturising intensity - I like to slather on a thick layer before bed.

Something of a doyenne when it comes to moisturisation, Clinique’s Moisture Surge™ Intense 72-Hour Lipid-Replenishing Hydrator (£38/50ml at www.clinique.co.uk) is a must-have in anyone’s skincare arsenal; the rich formula is a lifesaver for very dry skin (hi there…). With active aloe water and caffeine, it keeps skin hydrated for 72 hours (even after face washing), leaving it smooth, plump and soothed. It’s also packed with hyaluronic acid and Cica, also know as tiger gras, a centuries-old ingredient used in ancient Chinese tradition to help soothe dry, delicate skin. My skin has been DRINKING this the past week; even if it’s too rich for you to use everyday it’s worth having a pot to hand for those days your skin feels particularly parched.
