Keep an eye on the events coming up from purveyors of London's most delicious chicken wings Wingshack Co., because they've kicked off a new series of WSC Sessions, described as 'a multi-sensory feast for our most devoted wing fans!'
The first date took place at the Loughton venue on Bank Holiday weekend (sorry we're a bit late to the party there...) with bottomless wings, fries and drinks with funky, hip-hop, soulful beats from a live DJ. Guests can book in for a 90 minute session loaded with their famous wing flavours, complete with unlimited fries and bottomless Camden Hells lager, rum punch cocktails or soft drinks, all for just £35 per person. With sessions due to take place at additional sites in the not so distant future - with each having its own playlist influenced by local artists - you won't want to miss them.
if Loughton is a bit out of reach, you can still get your chicken fix at Selfridges fourth floor food court. We paid them a little visit this week; oh how we've missed that perfect poultry.
The menu might be a slimmed down version but features all their classic flavours (and arguably the best dishes). There are plenty of wings with a kick if you like them hot - the Mango Mazzaline with a fiery sweet mango sauce and the Jarv's Tangy Buffalo will put fire in your belly. We tried the classic Chang's Honey & Sesame; seriously sweet and sticky, sprinkled with spring onions and sesame seeds and blooming delicious. The Eat My Thighs burger was a perfectly messy concoction of southern fried chicken thigh, chilli mayo, coleslaw, melted cheese and fresh lettuce; not the thing to eat on a date (ask for extra napkins...) but seriously tasty comfort food with a good tang from the chipotle mayo. The fries and sweet potato fries were some of the best we've had - perfectly crispy and fluffy at the same time (it's like magic how they do that...) while the fresh crunchy slaw was the perfect accompaniment to cut through the carbs. A taste overload.
We'll be booking in to Loughton soon enough to make the most of the full menu including Cajun Squid, Fried Plantain. If you're brave enough, sign yourself up for the Inferno Cahllenge; if you manage to eat the six super spicy wings in five minutes you win a T-Shirt and 50% off your next meal... I'm not sure we're up for the challenge!
